Endemic to the swamps and bayous of Louisiana, these "mudbugs" have been a staple in the aquarium hobby for many years. Naturally these nocturnal scavengers have a red/brown tint but, over time, have been bred to be white and orange in coloration.
We recommend a 10 gallon tank as the minimum
A 20L tends to be perfect for a single species
Crayfish are best kept alone
Top swimming fish that are small and fast tend to be safe to keep alongside crayfish
No bottom dwellers (Corydoras,Plecos,etc.)
Crayfish are territorial and temperamental
Omnivorous sinking pellets are your best option
They also love fresh vegetables
